Check out our beautiful clusters of California White Sage. This species of sage only grows in southwestern CA, and is a species of Salvia. Sage that grows in other states such as CO are Artemisia species, and are not considered to smell as pleasant when burned. Sage is commonly burned in a home to help cleanse a space, or burned around a person to cleanse the person. This practice is commonly called smudging. The cleansing ability of sage makes it very desirable to use when creating sacred space. Use sage to help clear your home of emotional energy either when selling the home or to refresh the ambiance.

Our White Sage sustainably harvested by cutting only from the soft part of the stem for short stemmed clusters, rather than further down the stem to create long stemmed wands. White Sage responds well to pruning from the soft parts of the stem, often producing two clusters the following year. If harvested too low on the stem, that stem will not put out any new growth the following year.

Sage, being a natural product, will vary somewhat in size and appearance, and your bag may not appear identical to the bag pictured.  Please note that if you choose to burn sage, you should take standard fire precautions to prevent burning yourself or any objects. Use of a fire-proof container, to catch the ash and set down the sage, is recommended. Please remember that heat may discolor some bowls.
