On one snowy night
A young mouse was awoken with a fright.
When he heard the clatter,
He grabbed his ladder
To rise upon the roof.
For Santa was aloof.

A man dressed in red
Had no idea there was a mouse climbing up to his head.
Santa dropped present after present as he continued his work.
He couldn't see the mouse silently lurk.
Santa jumped back with a shout
As the mouse's head popped out.

Santa laughed and said, "Why are you up little boy?”
The mouse replied, "I want my toy!"
The mouse was met with a disapproving look
Then Santa pulled out a book.
It had a velvet red cover
Surly created by a Christmas lover.

The Clause read aloud word by word
The mouse thought "How absurd!"
As Santa's meaning became clear
The mouse started to tear.
Santa was reading a magical book full of names.
"Timothy J. Mouse" had only himself to blame.

All the bad things he did that year became clear.
Then Santa slowly started to disappear.
The mouse let out a loud cry, "I'm sorry."
Santa stopped and turned, his eyes were wet and starry.
He felt the sadness of the mouse and went to his knees
Out of his pocket came a large bit of cheese.

"I forgive you for your deeds but share it with your brothers."
The mouse smiled jokingly and said, "I’ll share to my own druthers."
