Recently, several large medical institutions, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Sloan-Kettering in New York, have sponsored research into some complementary therapies. Many of the staff enjoy an avid interest in exploring the benefits of complementary and alternative healing practices -- never as a substitute for medical care, but in discovering what these healing techniques are about, what to expect, and what benefits may be gleaned.
