I Will Soar
by Corinne Piotter
Why do you look at me that way?
So full of hatred,
You despise me.
You try to control my every move!
But you don't know the truth.
My simple truth.
I have turned my back on you,
And all your kin.
I won’t be your little puppet anymore.
You cannot pull strings,
and make me dance.
I have shining silver wings,
Full of long, sparkling feathers.
They have only one perpose:
To let me fly away from you,
And your dark chains of lies and caustic hate that try to hold me down.
I will soar from my hate filled past,
And into a brighter future,
Filled with joy and light …
Love that I have never known before!
So perfect in every way,
Yet different from emotions of the same name.
It is simple,
but has many forms.
But above all else it is mine.
I am able to shape it and mold it to my liking,
and find it anything that breaths.
It involves everything,
Yet nothing feels it in the same way as myself.
I have escaped from the darkness.
I have flown into the light.
I have found my perfect world,
And in it I found love.
